The Cultural Work of Climate Fiction (Prof. Dr. Ruth Mayer)

Short description: In 2016, author Amitav Ghosh deplored the scarcity of
literary and filmic texts on climate change in his Guardian article
„Where is the fiction about climate change?“. Since then, the situation
has changed profoundly, there is an overabundance of novels, films, or
artworks on climate change. In this class, we will discuss the functions
of fictional approaches to the developments at hand and the reason why
climate fiction is important. Please read in preparation: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/oct/28/amitav-ghosh-where-is-the-fiction-about-climate-change-
